Oh no! They’re retiring!

Stampin’ Up! has a huge amount of items that are retiring June 2, 2014!

For a list of what’s retiring, click here: Saying Goodbye!

There are at least eight stamp sets that are retiring that I still haven’t purchased.  EEK!

I think the one I’m the most sad about is Notable Alphabet, seen here.

If you would like to purchase anything that’s retiring, please consider choosing me as your demonstrator. I’d love to help you out!

Sincerely,
Sara Parsons

Stampin’ Up – Undefined Stamp Carving Kit

Earlier this week, I got my Stampin’ Up Undefined Stamp Carving Kit in the mail! I have been really excited and a little nervous to get started with it.

*disclaimer: this post is very photo heavy. Loading times may vary.*

I bought both the kit, and a refill kit because I figured I’d mess the first one up. hehe.

The original stamp carving kit in heavy duty box comes with:

  • Four wooden blocks.
  • Island Indigo Stampin’ Write marker.
  • Two carving tools. (One for large spaces, and one for detail work.)
  • A 4″ x 3″ piece of carving rubber.
  • A 4″ x 3″ piece of adhesive foam.
  • Pictorial directions.
  • Three postcards.
  • One sheet of stamp templates in case you need help getting started.

The first thing I did was try to decide what I wanted to make into a stamp.  I like to doodle now and again, but I thought I’d try something easier for the first stamp.  I went online and found a stock image that I liked. I cut out the portion of the image I wanted to make into a stamp and traced it with a graphite pencil.

I then laid the image face down onto the carving rubber and rubbed it with my bone folder.  This helped to transfer the image.

Once I had transferred it, I started with the larger of the tools and removed the outside edge of what I knew would be my stamp.

After that I used the small tool to remove some of the smaller detailed areas. I didn’t get a photo of that for some reason. Oops!

Then I used a pair of strong scissors to cut around the stamp.

Using my hand, I carefully laid the stamp side down onto a Stampin’ Up ink pad (Elegant Eggplant) so I could see if I had any areas I wanted to change.

I wasn’t satisfied with the bottom of my fleur de lis, so I decided to use the small detail tool and work some more.  Then I stamped it again to see if I liked it better.   I did.  It’s NOT perfect, but I think that’s sort of the beauty with the Undefined kit.

I attached the adhesive foam next. I did so by tracing the edge of the stamp onto the backing and then cutting it out with my scissors.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. See? 😉

Next I carefully stamped the image onto one side of the wooden block and dried it with my heat tool to make sure I wouldn’t smear it when attaching the stamp.

The finished product.  I like it. 🙂

Stampin’ Up!

I think most of you know that I have a side business, The Sara Parsons Project, and that I sell Stampin’ Up! products in order to supplement my income while I’m in college. I’m just curious if any of my friends would be interested in having a small party at their home to make cards and/or other paper crafts? It can be just three or four people up to ten or fifteen people. I have a full schedule during the week, but my weekends are usually pretty flexible. If this sounds like something you’d want to do, please PM me so we can discuss it further.  OR if you just want to buy some products, I can help you with that as well!

Also, Right now is Sale-A-Bration with Stampin’ Up! If you purchase $50 worth of product, you will get a free item from the Sale-A-Bration catalog! (Sale-A-Bration catalog is located here: http://su-media.s3.amazonaws.com/media/catalogs/NA/20131119_SAB_EN/20131119_SAB_en_US.pdf)
There are so many things you can do with Stampin’ Up items. If you aren’t interested in card-making, you can use the products for scrapbooking, other paper crafts, and even art journaling! Stampin’ Up also offers a digital line of products for those of you who don’t want to get your hands dirty.

Check out my demonstrator website and let me know if there’s anything I can help you with!

daily love

My random act of love today was that I took Edna and her family out to eat.

It felt good.  🙂

I also got to print out a lot of the photos I need in order to get Ashlynn’s scrapbook done. I’m so excited about that. She’s so adorable, and I love her so much.  This coming week, I will hopefully have her birthday scrapbooked. I need to leave a couple of blank pages so I can put in some miscellaneous photos that I have of her too.

I’m thinking about starting my own business as a “Stampin’ Up” rep, and later on a homemade greeting card/stationery company.  I don’t know what I’d call it, but…yeah. That’s my dream. 😉

Goodnight everyone…
