Focus

For 2016 I will be using a focus word in order to study the Word of God more intentionally.  The word that I’m using as a guide is intimacy; not only intimacy with God but intimacy with those around me.

Today I journaled the first verse that the Holy Spirit brought to me which is James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

On the side of my journaling page, I have put “Everyday I will pursue intimacy.”

Do you have a word, phrase or verse you’ll focus on for the coming year?  Feel free to share it in the comments!

Supplies are listed below the photos.

Sara

Time Flies

It’s been more than one year since I’ve been here to talk to you…if any of you are still around.

I’ve been going to school, working, adopting a teenager, and generally trying to get my life in order.

Not long ago, I started doing something called Bible journaling in order to help me spend more time in the Word. Let’s get real….I’ve neglected His Word for far too long.

There’s a movement, and a brand, called Illustrated Faith.  You can find all sorts of Bible journaling under the hashtags #illustratedfaith and #biblejournaling. You should check it out.

Here are the pages I’ve done so far. I’ll try to be better about coming around. I hope you’re blessed.

Say Something

I should be doing my homework.  In fact, I was doing my homework before I decided to put on some music.  That’s when Say Something came on.

It is a lovely song.  Truly.  If you haven’t yet heard it, you should listen to one of the many versions on YouTube.

So, as I was listening, I started thinking…what is it about this song that is so beautifully, mournfully moving?  And it came to me…

The most devastating thing in our lives is when someone, anyone, we love gives up on us.  It can be a romantic relationship, a friendship, a work relationship, or any relationship between.  It can even be a relationship with the Father.

Not only are we devastated when someone gives up on us, we are devastated when we must give up on them.

And so, I will try not to give up on you.  Will you please try not to give up on me either?

Much love.

#21daysinMay2014 – Day 3

Today’s theme is inspire.

She challenged us to use a stencil.  Which I did, but the way I tried to do it (gesso through a stencil and then embossing) didn’t work too well.  I’m still happy with the outcome, however.

So, here they are!

This is where I tried to use a stencil. However, technically speaking, those dots in the background are a stencil also. I put texture paste through a stencil and got that look.

It’s TRUE!

Holocaust Remembrance Day 2014

At sundown today, Holocaust Remembrance Day begins. As you reflect on that time, and the six million Jews (over one million of which were children) who were murdered, consider also the other estimated five million people who perished as well. People who were seen as “less than” and murdered. In addition to Jews, the Nazis targeted Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the disabled (physically or mentally) for persecution. Anyone who resisted the Nazis was sent to forced labor or murdered.

We cannot forget what happened, or we will allow it to happen again.

Oh no! They’re retiring!

Stampin’ Up! has a huge amount of items that are retiring June 2, 2014!

For a list of what’s retiring, click here: Saying Goodbye!

There are at least eight stamp sets that are retiring that I still haven’t purchased.  EEK!

I think the one I’m the most sad about is Notable Alphabet, seen here.

If you would like to purchase anything that’s retiring, please consider choosing me as your demonstrator. I’d love to help you out!

Sincerely,
Sara Parsons
